Is Your Business Actually Ready for AI?

Every vendor is selling AI. Few are asking whether your business is actually ready to use it. Before you sign anything, it's worth an honest look at three things: your data, your processes, and your people.
Start with data. AI is only as good as the information it can reach. If your data lives in five disconnected systems, half of it is inaccurate, and nobody knows who owns it, no tool will magically fix that. Readiness means knowing where your data is, whether it's clean enough to trust, and who has access to it.
Then look at processes. AI works best on repetitive, well-defined workflows — the kind where you already know what a good outcome looks like. If a process is messy and undocumented, automating it just creates faster mess. Map the workflow first.
Finally, your team. Are they comfortable experimenting? Do they understand the risks of pasting confidential information into a public tool? Adoption fails more often from lack of trust and training than from bad technology.
The businesses getting real value from AI aren't the ones buying the most tools. They're the ones who did the unglamorous work first — cleaning up data, documenting processes, and setting clear guardrails. That's strategy first, technology second.
